Short Fuse Latest

Stop Press - Short Fuse launches in Hastings in May!
We are really excited to be launching Short Fuse in Hastings. A town with a growing arts community and an established writing community, we are receiving a very positive response from the locals so far.  Our inaugural event will be in the relaxed and stylish setting of The Rooms Cafe Bar where you can get real ale, organic wine and food.  The Rooms (with it’s recording studio beneath) has a repution for supporting experimental, emerging  and more established musicians, comedy and live literature.  Check it out on: www.myspace.com/theroomscafebarstudios

We are inviting submissions of stories on any theme of between 50 and 3000 words for this event (deadline 20th May) and the June event (deadline 18th June).

Sunday 31st May at The Rooms in St Leonards. 8 - 11pm £5 on the door

Tim Lay is hosting a night of ‘fiction from the edge’ -  ”Grit Lit” will be a night of ‘dirty realist’ tales from Brighton writers and is part of the Fringe festival.  Tara will be reading alongside Tim Lay, Dave Swann and others.  May 7th, Red Roaster, only £2.50 on the door.

Sunday 7th June:  our home town night back on form down in Komedia’s studio bar. We’ll be hearing some startling true tales from local writers which observe and bravely report on the everyday: “True Stories - Tales of Ordinary Madness” a bit of an homage to Bukowski, it is our first non-fiction night.  A great line-up so far but still a couple of slots left so send in your larger than life true tales.

Sunday July 5th is unthemed and we are calling for submissions for this night and our September night where the theme will be “Politico” . Here’s an opportunity to use your pen as your weapon, please send us tales with a vehement political or socio-political bent.

Please see submissions guidelines
